Testimony of Brian Lawson:
I was born on March 10, 1974 and raised in North Carolina. I was not brought up in a Christian home except in name only. I was care free without one thought of eternity. At the age of fifteen I witnessed the death of my eleven year old brother in November of 1989. For the first time I was forced to think about death for my self. After the funeral the preacher came to invite my family to church. The preacher preached a message on the Savior that died on Calvary, and Heaven and Hell. After much conviction I surrendered my will to the savior. At the age of sixteen the Lord saved me.
In 1998 missionary John Gray was preaching in the morning service. It was his testimony of what the Lord had been doing in his life. The Holy Spirit had been dealing with me prior to this service. Again, after much conviction I surrendered my will. Brother Gray closed the message and during the invitation I confronted my wife. I asked her if she was willing to be a preacher’s wife. After she answered in the affirmative I went forward to announce my call to the preacher and the congregation. It was during the same year that a missionary came home for furlough and visited our mission’s conference. He was from Brazil. I had wept over many missionary presentations, but it was through this presentation that God started dealing with my heart about where He wanted our family. I then proceeded three years at Silvery Lane Baptist Institute. I was then encouraged to find a Bible college. After the death of our ten month old daughter we moved to South Carolina where we completed four years of Bible college. I earned a Bachelor’s in Theology and graduated with honors.
During my third year of college I took a survey trip to Brazil. I was seeking God’s guidance and confirmation. I stayed in Brazil for two and a half weeks. While I was there God showed me the great need in this country. If the Lord allows, we plan to give the rest of our lives serving Him in Brazil.
Jessica’s Testimony:
I was born April 19, 1975 and grew up in the suburbs of Detroit. My family was non-practicing Lutheran, which is where I was baptized as a child. For Several month’s Brian and I had been visiting Silvery Lane Baptist Church. The preacher had been preaching on salvation. On March 09, 1997 after the evening service the pastor’s wife approached me. Mrs. Staub asked me if I was saved, she then proceeded to give me the plan of salvation. In the middle of the church on the center of the pew we knelt down in prayer. On this night I asked the Lord to save me. A couple of week’s later pastor Staub then baptized me.
